Dulcie Best • Costumière • Designer and Maker

Dulcie has been working professionally as a costume designer and maker since 1990.
After a degree in Theatre and English from Hull University, she went on as a post graduate to study costume design at the Welsh College of Music and Drama.
She is based in Paris and works regularly in London, though much of her work over the past few years has taken her further afield.

Dulcie has designed costumes for major international events, such as the opening ceremony of Euro 2008, the 2004 Paralympic Games in Athens, and the Toyota Pavillion at Japan’s 2005 World Expo; as well as coordinating 2500 traditional costumes for the opening ceremony of the All African Games in Nigeria.

Alongside these major events, she pursues her passion for designing and making through her work in theatre and opera, whenever possible branching into the world of puppets, masks and what the French call « Le Costume Grotesque ».
